Denny Myers: 5 String Bass, Sound , Lights, Website & Whatever!
Born and raised in Pekin Illinois, now living in rural Green Valley. Married to wife Theresa (for 29 years) with three Rug Rats: Melissa, Ashlyn, Kyle, Son in Law - Ben, 2 Grandsons Nik & Edison and Yellow Lab ….. Abby.
Influences: Parents, Family and all the great friends I’ve had through the years. Musical influences are to numerous to mention but take a look at our song list and you’ll get an idea. Throw in some jazz, fusion and a lot of the Dead and that’s were I’m at.
Music Bio: I started playing drums when I was in the 2nd grade and took lessons from two of the best drum teachers in the area, George McCullough & John Dorn. (RJD) I was playing paying gigs by the time I was in the 5th grade with our little rock combo & a country /bluegrass band. I stuck with the drums through high school where I had the great privilege to have Larry Fogelberg for a band conductor. First time I played the big 40” bass drum as a freshman, Larry & I kind of locked and I was his soul bass drummer for 4 years. I always enjoyed when his son Dan would come to our concerts and hang out in the drum room with us. Yeah, Larry is the guy in Dan’s song… Leader Of The Band. That summer after I graduated I had a wild hair and took my drums and traded them for a Fender Precision Bass & a Peavey Bass Amp and been playing bass since that day, some 30 years later. I’ve played in to many bands to mention, none of which has been very popular, but I’ve always played with friends and the music we like. In Stages we have the best chemistry anyone could ever hope for in a band, we are all great friends and enjoy jamming our asses off together, with full support from our family’s.
Gear: My main axe is a Modulas FB5, the smoothest playing 5-String I’ve ever touched and a Ernie Ball Stingray 5-II for a back up. I also have a Custom Fretless Forum - 5 used for recording. Main Stage Rig is Ampeg SVT Classic & SVT 8/10 Cabinet. I always carry a GK 1001 RB for backup. I use a GK 700RB 210 Combo on top of a GK Neo 15 for rehearsal & smaller gigs. Shure wireless & Korg tuner.
Hobbies: Yelling at my kids, camping, woodworking, photography and computers.
Side Gigs: Denny’s Custom Woodworking The BVD Band A Day To Remember Mobile DJ Service. Complete Wedding & Party Services
Something you’ll never see me do: Sing with our band. I get asked all the time when am I going to sing. We’ll here is the reason, I can’t and here is the proof. For a goof, I made up this parody for a farmer buddy of mine whose nick name is Cow F#%ker. I recorded it and now you can hear it and learn why you’ll never see me sing!!!
